Rosita Merluza Obituary
Rosita is survived by her children: Brenda and her spouse, Gerry; Robert and his spouse, Rachel; and Abner Jr. (Ace) and his spouse, Carla. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Bryan and his spouse, Leah; Aidan, Ethan, Charlotte, Jack, Isabel, and Alex; and her great-grandsons, Clarke and Sebastian. Rosita is also survived by her siblings, Ramon, Neonita (Neony), Macario (Acar), and Andres (Andy). She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Teofila Campomanes, and her siblings, Cipriano (Adong), Avelina (Aving), Mario, Ernesto, and Fidel (JP).
Rosita was born on October 6, 1946, in Pagbilao, Quezon, Philippines. She attended Philippine Normal College, where she studied education, and taught at Pagbilao Academy before moving to the United States to join her husband, Abner. She later settled in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she lived for 40 years, and went on to a nearly 50-year nursing career, including service at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Jersey City Medical Center.
Visitation for Rosita will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Greenville Memorial Home, 374 Danforth Ave., Jersey City, NJ 07305. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Aloysius Church, 691 West Side Ave., Jersey City, NJ 07305.
