Ross Smith Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Cedar City on Jan. 5, 2024.
Our sweet little man, Ross Ira Smith (Hastiin Yazhii), waltzed into this world and into our hearts on November 11, 2021, to the proud parents of MahLee and Sammie Smith. He was an early birthday present for his mama, her best present ever. As soon as he entered this world, he lit up every room. Whether it was his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins- everyone was smitten by our Rossy Roo Roo the moment anyone saw him. His plump lips, giant smile, and his adorable dimples could charm anyone and everyone.
As Ross grew, everyone was entertained by his constant cuddling, freelance dancing, confident singing, constant running, meticulous stacking of plastic cups, and insanely accurate hoop shooting. His personality exuded his little stature with every high knee run, leg-popping spin, bunny hops, and his shoulder dip pleases, complete with his signature puppy eyes.
Ross loved being surrounded by his family. Whether it was fishing, hunting, four-wheeler riding, watching sporting events, picking up rocks, or playing with his cousins- you could see his happiness exude through that mischievous grin or perfect wink. He was always up for a piggyback ride, a game of "chase the cousin" through the house, or his favorite, belly flop on anyone lying on the floor.
Ross became a big brother in October 2023. After a brief moment of hesitation, he jumped right into being the best big brother. He always had to be near Reid no matter who was holding him. We lost count of the times his Mom had to tell him to stop licking his brother. We know their brotherly bond will continue as he keeps an eye out for Reid, his parents, and all who loved him.
Even though he was only two years old, he left a major imprint on all of our hearts. Ross had such a way of bringing boundless energy and laughter wherever he went. His smile would light up the darkest room, and his laughter was a melody that echoed in our hearts. And those curls! His were not just cute curls; they were a testament to the carefree and untamed spirit that characterized his personality.
Words can't describe how much we love you, Rossy, and how much of a blessing you are to all of us. Thank you for choosing us to be your family, our little Rossy Roo Roo, our Stinker Butt, our Little Man. We will never stop loving you or missing you. Your memory will forever dance in our hearts.
Our sweet Rossy left this earth on January 2, 2024, after a brief and acute illness. Ross is survived by his parents, MahLee and Sammie Smith; brother, Reid; maternal grandparents, Shelley and Donald Livingston of Milford; paternal grandparents, Mark and Michelle Smith of Minersville; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who also adored everything about him. He was preceded in death by his Uncle Tahmas Justin Livingston; his namesakes - paternal Great Grandpa Ross Smith and maternal Great Grandpa Ira Mitch Fisher, as well as many other great grandparents, great aunts, great uncles, and loved ones.
We will celebrate the beautiful life of our darling Ross Ira Smith (Hastiin Yazhii) beginning with a Visitation Viewing on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 6-8pm at the Minersville, Utah, Stake Building. We'll continue the celebration on Saturday, January 6, 2024, with a Visitation View from 11:30am-1:30pm at the Minersville Stake Building. Funeral Services will be held at the same building beginning at 2:00pm. He'll be sleeping forever in Minersville, UT.
If you plan to attend any of the services, please bring the shiniest rock you can find. Our Rossy sure loves his rocks.
The family would like to sincerely thank the heroic efforts of the Minersville Ambulance Crew as well as the dedicated staff of the Milford Memorial Hospital. Thank you for taking care of our boy.
