Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parker-Millard Funeral Service and Crematory on Dec. 11, 2025.
Roswitha Caudle, formerly of
Perryville, Mo, passed away on December 10th, 2025, in Hallsville, Missouri at the age of 85.
Roswitha Siglinde Anita Wagner was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, on October 10, 1940, to Walter and Erna Wagner (Dudzuweit). She decided to cross the Atlantic to the United States as an Au Pair after some time spent in the UK, looking for adventure and eager to explore a new and different country where, in essence, everything was possible. After some time in Miami, she later went to St. Louis as she had pen-pals there and an offer of secretarial work. It was a chance meeting on a weekend jaunt down to Perryville, Missouri with those same friends from St. Louis where she met her future husband, Jerry Lee Caudle of Ellis Grove, Il. The couple married on May 11", 1963, and later had two children, Sonya and Derrick. They resided in
Brentwood, MO, Florrisant, MO and
Washington, MO before settling in Perryville. Her principal occupation for many years was as a pharmacy assistant at the former Perryville Prescription Center in Perryville, owned by the late Ron and Gisela Horr. She was also an active member with the German Club in Jackson, Missouri. Her later years were spent in Hallsville, Missouri.
Roswitha was an inquisitive, sensitive and curious soul who also appreciated a definite sense of order, paired with artistic sensibility and a sly sense of humor. A passion for traveling, British comedy, reading, current affairs and fine food of many types was paired with a keen intellect and compassion. She was able to demonstrate the value of respecting others, education, giving your best to what needed to be done, languages and the intention to always try and do what was correct and morally upstanding, even if it meant going against popular opinion and thinking. She instilled a keen understanding of history and sense of place. She also enjoyed listening to a little Rod Stewart playing on the stereo and fancied a glass of homemade cherry wine every now and then. A cup of Monastrell wine from Jumilla, Spain was greatly appreciated as well.
She will be deeply missed, and although we say farewell for now, we know we'll meet again at another time and place. We have wonderful and joyful memories of a lifetime shared together to look back upon, etched upon mind, heart and soul. Although the flame has been extinguished on this side, it burns clear and ever brighter on the other. May she find rest, peace and tranquility on this new journey, as we remember and honor her memory with an ever-present love and sense of gratitude for having been able to share her life. A glass of wine shall be held high in remembrance, and a light in our hearts shall be forever.
