Roxane Harumi (Kazama) Butler, 62, of Eugene, Oregon, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Pete Moore Hospice House after a short struggle with cancer. By her request, no family services are planned.

Born in Los Angeles, California on December 19, 1962, Roxane enjoyed her childhood with athletics such as volleyball and fishing on Catalina Island. She graduated from UC Irvine in 1985 with a B.A. in Business/Psychology, where she was active in her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta. She also loved her employment as Theme Park Manager at Disneyland and later advancement into management at Walt Disney Studios headquarters.

Upon relocating to Eugene in 1997 to join her significant other, Roxane found the perfect fit when she began her storied career at the Valley River Inn. As Director of Catering, she planned and oversaw hundreds of iconic local and regional events, as well as supporting NCAA and international athletic teams. For 28 years, Roxane's meticulous attention to detail of every conference, reception, or celebration, combined with her innate sense of artistic creativity, enthralled her clients as well as the entire staff of VRI, where she was beloved. She was proud of her membership in the Eugene Executives Association.

Roxane loved walking the coasts of Florence and Cannon Beach with her partner and dogs, and perusing clothing boutiques and bookstores. She was an avid sports fan, cheering for the UO Ducks and their related professional teams. She will be truly missed by so many, who will always remember her kindness, cheerfulness, patience, generosity, and grace.

Roxane is survived by her parents, Rand Popovits and Dianne (Kono) Popovits, and her life partner of 28 years, Scott Stewart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations to Greenhill Humane Society and FOOD For Lane County.
