In Loving Memory of Roxane Elaine Casteel

Roxane Elaine Casteel, age 68, of Niles, Michigan, passed away on September 17, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after courageously battling a long illness.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 25 years, Dwain Casteel; her daughter, Jodee Duis; and her cherished granddaughters, Alayna Duis, Alyson Williams, and Parker Williams, all of Niles. Roxane is also survived by her siblings: Diana (Bert) Sage, Christy (Dick) Miller, sister-in-law Alice (Bob) Kater, Kim (Lou Ann) Kater, Nancy Kater, and Gary (Deb) Kater. Her large and loving family includes sixteen nieces and nephews, thirty-one great-nieces and nephews, and six great great-nieces and nephews.

Roxane was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Eulila Kater of Niles; her brothers, Don Kater and Bob Kater; and her husband, Donald Duis.

Born on September 15, 1957, Roxane was a lifelong resident of Niles. She graduated with honors in 1975 and continued to serve and support her community throughout her life.

In 2000, Roxane married Dwain Casteel. Together, they enjoyed spending time at the AMVETS Post 1978, driven by a shared commitment to honoring veterans and making a positive difference in their lives. Roxane dedicated thirteen years serving as a bartender and as a member of the women's auxiliary. She was passionate about serving her community and spent many years waitressing and supporting various local events.

Roxane found great joy in life's simplest pleasures. She cherished the time spent with her daughter and grandchildren, and she valued the laughter and connection with her family at frequent gatherings. Conversations with many friends in the community always brought a smile to her face. Roxane was an avid pool player for Colonial Bar and a member of the APA for several decades. In her free time, she enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, listening to music, cooking, and assembling puzzles. A devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines football team, she enjoyed the excitement of local rivalries.

A memorial service to honor Roxane's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
