Roxanne Denise Strnadel Nelson

Roxanne Denise Strnadel Nelson, 67, of El Campo, passed away October 18, 2025. She was born on February 26, 1958 in El Campo to the late Leroy and Dolores Veselka Strnadel.
In high school, Roxanne loved working cattle and horses alongside her father for Mama Guy Stovall. Her deep love for animals stayed with her throughout her life-at one time, she even raised Golden Retrievers. Roxanne also enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, and fishing at Shell Beach. She and Bill shared many memorable trips across the country, visiting National Parks together. Photography was another one of Roxanne's great passions. She loved sitting in the blind on a South Texas ranch and photographing birds and anything else that came by the blind. She also enjoyed photographing all of the great places that she visited. She had a great love for family and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them. She loved following her nieces and nephews as they played sports in school, and loved recording precious moments with her family through the lens of her camera. Professionally, Roxanne dedicated 17 years to Texas Employers' Insurance and spent 19 years serving at the Brazoria County District Attorney's Office, where she met her besties, Faye and Debra.
Roxanne will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William "Bill" Nelson; siblings, Danette Wendel and husband Mark, Bridget Nohavitza and husband Darrell, Neal Strnadel and wife Cindy and Stacy Johnson and husband Laurent; sisters-in-law, Claire Nelson, Frances Nelson and Melissa Rittenberry; brother-in-law, Marty Nelson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her beloved cat, Tabby.
Roxanne was preceded in death by her parents; nieces, Megan Wendel and Rebecca Labay Bard; brother-in-law, Tommy Nelson and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Elma Jo Rittenberry.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29 at Triska Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 30 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Hillje. The funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Flagg officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews - Denise Armstrong, Craig Wendel, Haley Strnadel, Brady Johnson, Colby Johnson, and Matt Labay, along with friends David and Becky Buchanek and David Bouchie and cousin Greg Maisel.
Memorial donations in memory of Roxanne may be made to Wharton County SPOT or St. Andrew's Catholic Church.
