Roy Scott Alltop, 68, of Elizabeth, WV, went to be with his Savior on March 25, 2025 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown surrounded by his family. He was born August 29, 1956 in Normantown, WV to the late Harlen and Hazel Reed Alltop.
After graduation from Gilmer County High School in 1974 and Glenville State College in 1978, Roy spent 13 years as a teacher and 29 years as a State Farm Insurance Agent. He loved coaching basketball and served as a head basketball coach for a total of 24 years, twenty-one of those at Wirt County High School, coming out of retirement to coach "a great group of boys" during the 2024-2025 season.
Although an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, spending time with family was most important to him, especially his granddaughters. He also maintained close relationships with extended family in both Ohio and West Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Flesher Alltop; three daughters, Ginger (Gregg) Clarke, Christy (Shannon) Alltop, and Megan (Ryan) Holbert; granddaughters Ella Clarke, Maggie Clarke, Sydney Holbert, and soon-to-arrive Skylar Holbert; siblings Nedra (Jesse) Riggins, Robert (Mary) Alltop, Nelda Gill, and sister-in-law Beth Alltop. He was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh and an infant brother; brothers-in-law, James Gill and Ray Riggins.
Funeral services will be at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 29,2025 at the Wirt County High School Gymnasium in Elizabeth with Rev. Jim Bruce officiating. Visitation will be 10-3 prior to the service. Burial will be at K of P cemetery in Elizabeth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wirt County High School Boys Basketball. P.O. Box 219, Elizabeth,WV 26143.
Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg, has been entrusted with Roy's final wishes and is honored to serve his family.
