Billy Alltop Obituary

Billy D. Alltop
Age 73, of Dwight, Illinois, and formerly of Joliet, passed from this life on Sunday evening, September 21, 2025, surrounded by family and the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, and Annie Lennox.
Bill (aka Mic) was born on June 18, 1952, to the late Patricia (Hindman) and Glenn Alltop in Pontiac, Illinois, where he was raised and educated. He attended Saunemin grade school and graduated with the Class of 1970 from Pontiac High School.
He is the beloved father of Casey (Mark) Alltop-Piebenga, and Greg (Tanya) Alltop; proud grandfather of Dexter, Beau, and Marvin; dear brother of Sue (Doug) Gentes, and Rob (Sharetta) Alltop. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Mary Alltop,, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dice pals.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Alltop, and his parents.
Bill was an operator with Commonwealth Edison, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He was a Seattle Seahawks football fan. His true passion was listening to music, whether at concerts, festivals, or in the comfort of his own reverberating walls at home. He has for years, maintained a vast collection of vinyl albums. He was a lover of life, always the first to the party and the first to leave, but ready to have a good time in between.
All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 11 a.m., until a service of remembrance begins at 1 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet. Committal prayers and Inurnment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park for family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association on the Bill Alltop fundraising page.
