Roy Azzarello Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home & Crematory on May 12, 2025.
Roy August Azzarello, born Aug 26, 1938, passed away peacefully May 11th, 2025.
Roy was born in Chicago and was raised in LaGrange Park, IL. He loved his alma mater Lyons Township High School, and the LaGrange Pet Parade. Roy graduated from North Central College in Naperville IL. Roy's dream was to get rich quick, but instead was a credit collector for most of his professional life, which he "wasn't very good at," he once quipped. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls & Blackhawks, and later the Arizona Diamondbacks. He spent 25 years of his life in Arizona, loving the Sonoran desert landscape. It was second only to his love for all things Italy. He enjoyed playing bocce ball and writing letters to the editor of the local Phoenix newspapers. Roy was an accomplished story-teller and never let a good dad joke go to waste.
He was preceded in death by his parents August Azzarello and Adeline Roush, and grandson Nicholas. He leaves behind his daughters Allyson Scopelliti (Joseph), Rachel Azzarello (Eddy), and Kara Wilde (Steven); also his cherished grandchildren Sean, Dean, Sabina, and Easton; and his brother Terry Azzarello (Jeanne).

I know that Roy was here in our facility for a short time and I said hello to him. Unfortunately, he was not with us long. I wish we could have helped. May God welcome Roy to paradise. God bless all of you. I am
Sr. Kathleen --- resident and acting chaplain of Celebrate Senior Living in Niles. We are remembering Roy and all of you in our Mass on Sunday and in our daily prayers.
