Roy Beatty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jessen Funeral Home & Simple Cremation - Whiteland on Mar. 20, 2025.
Roy T. Beatty Sr.,78, passed away peacefully, at his home, on March 15, 2025. Roy was a beloved husband, father, papaw, brother, uncle, and friend to many; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was born on October 16, 1946, in Manchester, KY., to Archie Thomas and Myrtle (Brown) Beatty. Roy moved to Indianapolis, at the age of 17, for work and eventually settled in Whiteland, where he and his wife raised their family.
He worked for Carrier Corporation for 47 years, retiring in 2009.
Roy and his wife, Vanda, were married on May 6, 1967, and would have soon celebrated their 58th anniversary. They had two children: Tommy (Leisa) and Shannon (Nate), of whom Roy was immensely proud. However, his true pride and joy were his grandchildren: Trevor (Ashtyn), Travis, Kylee, Brayden, Kirra, Izzy, his great-grandchildren: Beau & Levi, and a great-granddaughter, due later this year.
He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Poor Man's Bass Club, where he fished various lakes in Indiana. He especially enjoyed wintering in Florida at Lake Istokpoga with his "Florida family," who meant so much to him.
Everyone who knew Roy loved him and his smile. He had the unique ability to make everyone feel like the most important person in the room. Besides fishing, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his "Club Roy" (garage), playing cards, and being social. Everyone knew that when the garage door was up, it was time to sit, talk, laugh, and have a cold one.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with his siblings: Bill (Patricia), Diana (Earl), John Thomas, Clara Grace (Steve), and special "sis" (sister-in-law) Janice. He will be missed dearly by lifelong friends Mike and Linda, and many nieces and nephews.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Donna (Amos), Charles, Joann, and Nadine.
Per Roy's request, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home & Simple Cremation, Whiteland Chapel.
