Roy William Bledsoe, Sr, age 84, of Pennington Gap, VA went to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon, September 7, 2025 while at the Lee Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
Roy was born December 22, 1940, in Lee County, VA a son of the late James and Pearl (Scalf) Bledsoe. He was a retired truck driver with over 50 years of service with Woodway Stone Company. He was longtime member of Low View Privative Baptist Church and faithfully served as Deacon for over 50 years as well.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years; Dora Sue (Taylor) Bledsoe, his son; Roy Jr., (who passed away in April 2025), 4 brothers; Jack Bledsoe, Ernie Bledsoe, Sr and Jay Bledsoe and Cecil Bledsoe. 2 Sisters; Texel Bell Baldwin and Coleen Byington. I grandson; Issacc Peter James and a infant granddaughter.
Survivors include Daughter in law; April Bledsoe
11 grandchildren; Kayla DeLuca (Dan), Shawndouglas Bledsoe (Kennedy), Bailey Bledsoe (Timmy), Acelyn Pennington (Matt), J.J. Bledsoe, KD Bledsoe (Hayley), Karrington Bledsoe, Saylor Bledsoe, Storree Bledsoe, Bronxx Bledsoe (Solomon).
3 great-grandchildren; Wayland DeLuca, Wyatt DeLuca and Collins Bledsoe.
1 sister; Brenda Lester (Andy)
1 brother; Floyd Bledsoe
2 sister in laws; Peggy Bledsoe and Barbara Bledsoe
Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family survive along with many friends and church family.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 5PM until 7PM at Powell Valley Funeral Home. The funeral to follow with Pastor Steve Neff and Brother Josh Howard officiating. Burial will take place at 11AM Friday, September 12, 2025 at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway section of Pennington Gap, VA. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 10:45 AM for the committal.
