Roy Burnell Obituary

Roy was born and raised in Langley B.C. Roy was an accomplished boxer and golden glove champion for the RCAF. Roy was a gill netter on the Fraser River and the coast of B.C. for 56 years until he retired and moved to Nanaimo in 1988. Roy passed away peacefully at the N.R.G.H. palliative care unit on April 21, 2011 with his wife and family members at his side. He is predeceased by his sons Nick, Geoff, brother Eric, daughter-in-law Lora, brother-in-law Danny. Roy is survived by his loving wife Bernice (Davis), his 4 children; Dyan (Brooke) Peachland, Marilyn (Dell) Medicine Hat, Sharon (Dave) Parksville, Jack Medicine Hat. His 9 grandchildren; Geoff (Carolyn), Tracie, Dana (Clay), Jori (Ryan), Lana, Ashley, Britney (Jesse), Sheena, Shyanne. His 6 great grandchildren; Tanner, Kierstyn, Breanna, Cameron, Cody, Rylee. Also a very special friend David (Louise) McIntosh of Bowen Island. Also survived by 2 sister-in-laws Walli Burnell and Colleen Davis and many nieces and nephews. No service by request. Donations can be made in Roys name to the N.R.G.H. Palliative Care Unit.
