Roy “Danny” Moody
Roy “Danny” Moody passed away, Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
Danny was a native to Haywood County and the son to the late Roy and Annie Mehaffey Moody, and was also preceded in death by his brother Samuel Dale Moody.
Danny was employed by Dayco for 31 1/2 years and was the owner operator of Winchester Creek Campground and built log homes. He was a member and Deacon at Calvary Road Baptist Church.
Danny enjoyed fishing in Montana, visiting the Amish, playing the guitar especially with his granddaughter, growing a garden, and canning with Shirley.
Danny was survived by his wife of 60 years Shirley Smathers Moody; daughter Karis Plemmons (David); sister Rebecca Asbury; brother Johnny Moody (Terrie); and granddaughter Abigail Smart (Jonathan); a very special niece Kelly Kelley(David) and several other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Calvary Road Baptist Church with Reverend John H. Swanger III with burial to follow at Garrett- Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Road Baptist Church, 2701 Soco Rd, Maggie Valley, NC 28751.
