Roy DePerno Obituary

Roy J. "Rocky" DePerno, Jr. passed away on January 25, 2026.

Rocky was born on July 2, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to Roy and Rose DePerno. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and explored interests such as taxidermy and gunsmithing. A gifted and thoughtful artist, Rocky loved to sketch, often capturing the faces of his family, his beloved wife, and others who inspired him.

He began his professional life through an apprenticeship with Chrysler as a wood model maker. He later earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Oakland University. Rocky spent many years working at Chrysler before continuing his career as a rapid prototype maker at 3 Dimensional Services, where his craftsmanship and creativity were well respected.

Rocky was also a writer and self-published three works of fiction. He and his wife, Linda, shared a love of cooking and culinary experimentation, and both were known as excellent cooks who took joy in creating and sharing meals together.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his children, Christopher, Matthew, and Elizabeth; his grandchildren, Christopher, Alexandra, Anthony, Natalie, Samantha, Brian, Paris, Jon-Ross, and Paige; and his brother, Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rose DePerno, and his brother, Frank.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 7, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers and Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak, Michigan 48073. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Rochester.
