Roy E. Dillon, 97, of Beckley, WV passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the English Meadows Assisted Living Center in Fishersville, Virginia.
He was born on august 28, 1927 in Riley, WV to Ethel Mae and Joseph Dillon and was a master electrician in the coal mines. Mr. Dillon was a veteran serving in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lilly Dillon and son, Andy Dillon, both of Beckley.
Mr. Dillon is survived by Greta Oxley and husband, Tim of Bridgeport, WV; Doug Dillon and wife Karen of Bluefield, WV; and Ann Sulesky and husband, Chris of Waynesboro, Virginia. He had nine grandchildren: Chris Oxley, Charleston, WV; , Nick Oxley, South Charleston, WV; Trevor Oxley and wife Stacey, Clarksburg, WV; Will Oxley of Morgantown, WV; Sophie, Shelby, and Sara Sulesky of Waynesboro, Virginia; Sam and Joe Winant of Front Royal, Virginia. Mr. Dillon had five great grandchildren: Jackson, Jullian, Eliza, Juniper, and Penelope Oxley.
Mr. Dillon was an avid fisherman and gardener. Family gatherings were one of his favorite things, especially when they involved good food and pie. His favorite past times were sharing memories of family and friends and reading his Bible. A special thank you to Legacy Hospice of Fishersville, Virginia for the loving care that they provided, and English Meadows Assisted Living for the many friends that he acquired.
Funeral services will be on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Calfee Funereal Home in Beckley, WV with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm. Mr. Herb Zabel of Waynesboro, VA will officiate. Internment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Gardens, Prosperity, WV.
