Mr. Roy Joseph Greer, age 75 of Ferrum, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Friday, January 30, 2026. He was born in Patrick County on November 22, 1950, to the late Samuel Greer and Ethel Hall Greer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Pinkerton Greer; a daughter; one brother, David Samuel Greer, Sr; and two sisters, Nancy Lee Greer and Elizabeth Compton. He was a man of great faith who loved Jesus and reading his Bible. Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV): Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. Roy was generous and enjoyed helping people, no strings attached.

Left to cherish the memories of Roy are his three sons, Doug Greer (Lynn), Terry Greer (Cathy), and Paul Greer; three grandchildren, Joseph Greer, Derrian Greer, Chelsey Withrow; one great-grandchild, Willow Custer; four siblings, Alfred Greer (Sharon), Almeda Alley, Sue Cox (Richard), and Velvet Wyatt (Kevin); and several nieces and nephews.

All services will be private. If desired, memorials may be made to the Roy Joseph Greer Memorial Fund, c/o Moody Funeral Home, P. O. Box 307, Stuart, Virginia 24171.
