Roy Haller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kepner Funeral Home - Woodsdale on Dec. 4, 2025.
Roy Day Haller, 79, a proud veteran and innovative businessman, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, at home in Gainesville,Va surrounded by his loving family.
Born in August 1946 in Wheeling, WV, to Jean and Kate Haller, Roy was proud to be from the Ohio Valley. As a football player and graduate of Wheeling High School's Class of 1965, Roy was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after. He served his country with honor during the Vietnam War era, stationed in Korea, and completing his service as a Sargent in 1968 at Fort Knox as a drill sergeant. Upon returning home, he married his high school sweetheart, Betsy Bruhn Haller, beginning a partnership built on love and shared adventure and travel.
Roy began his career as a union mason in Wheeling before moving his family to South Florida in 1982. There, his entrepreneurial spirit flourished. He managed Gulf Coast Bomanite, before founding Professional Paving Systems, an imprinted concrete company. An innovator at heart, he later partnered with friends to create Amerimix concrete products, and manufactured many concrete products which was subsequently sold to Bonsal, International (Quikcrete). Roy was known for his ingenuity, spending many hours in his lab creating new products.
Outside of his professional life, Roy embraced life with enthusiasm. He was a passionate outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, boating and riding his horses and ATV's with friends. He created idyllic childhood memories for his children by taking them boating to explore the islands near Sanibel and the Gulf Coast. In later years, he became an avid golfer, traveling extensively to play courses around the world. In retirement he found immense joy in his garage, meticulously restoring classic cars and proudly displaying them at car shows.
Roy is survived by his devoted wife of 57 yrs, Betsy Bruhn Haller; his sister, Barbara Haller Withers of Babcock Ranch, FL, and his three children, Dori Haller Burner and her husband, Curt Burner (Gainesville Va), Stuart Rob Haller and his wife, Natalie Haller (Wheeling), and Jason Jean Haller (Gainesville,Virginia). He leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren: Brock, Audrey, Eric, William, Luke, Ella, Aiden, and Mercedes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kate and Jean Haller; his sister, Kathleen Haller Glessner of Oakmont, PA; and his granddaughter Morgan Genevieve Burner, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 24.
