Obituary Roy E. "Swede" Hult Hockey Standout at Wakefield High Class of '44 February 23, 1927-February 18, 2010 Nashua, New Hampshire Roy E. Hult, graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1944, formerly of Melrose, Massachusetts and Venice, Florida, died on February 18, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, NH after brief illness. Roy was the devoted husband of Priscilla (Bliss), loving father of Dana E. Hult and his wife Debra of Nashua, NH, Pamela Gilman and her husband Albert of Glastonbury, CT, and Lance T. Hult and his wife Catherine of Nashua, NH. Mr. Hult was the loving grandfather of Jamison Hult of Essex, MA, Taylor Gilman of Glastonbury, CT, and Chad, Trevor, Cameron and Lindsay Hult of Nashua, NH. Mr. Hult played four years of varsity hockey at Wakefield High School, playing on the Eastern Mass Hockey League All-Star team his senior year. He was also very active in helping to arrange all "Class of 1944" reunions. "Swede" enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, serving aboard a USCG manned LST, which participated in the amphibious landings against Japanese strongholds on the Pacific Islands of Cebu, Mindoro and Northern Luzon as well as Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He also participated in the landing on the homeland of Japan during the first days of occupation, bringing in "Special Forces" of the First Marine Division. Mr. Hult owned and operated Hult Photography Studio in Melrose, MA for over 40 years with his wife, "Beebe". He was a member of the Melrose VFW Post 2394, U.S. Coast Guard Combat Veteran's Association, also a member of the First Congregational Church of Melrose. Roy will be remembered as a gentle and sincere man with a deep love for his family, a wonderful sense of humor, honesty and his gracious compassion for others. He enjoyed boating, fishing and travel. For many years, the Hult's enjoyed spending summers at their cottage on Little Neck, Ipswich, Massachusetts. A Memorial Service is planned for Mr. Hult at the First Parish Congregational Church in Wakefield, MA on Thursday February 25, 2010 at 11:00am.
