Mr. Roy Lynn Hunziker, 80, of Wilson, passed away peacefully at his home on May 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Rexroat Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy May officiating. Interment to follow at Hewitt Cemetery. The services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Roy was born on March 14, 1945, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late Johnnie Jackson Hunziker and Lula Edna (Clanahan) Hunziker. He was raised in Wilson, where he graduated from Wilson High School in 1963. On March 29, 1968, he married the love of his life, Ms. Linda Strawn, and together they lovingly raised their two sons, Brian and Johnnie.
Roy dedicated over three decades of his career to the oilfield industry, retiring in 2007 from Texaco Oil Company. His commitment to the community was evident during his term on the Wilson School Board in 1976, where he contributed to the construction of the Wesley Hull gymnasium. Roy played a significant role in developing the Wilson Little League fields and the new Rexroat Baptist Church, of which he was a lifelong member.
A man of varied interests, Roy found joy in fishing, hunting, and camping. He cherished spending time at the lake and took great pleasure in mowing and maintaining his yard. Most importantly, he treasured attending and watching his grandsons participate in their sporting events.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and half-siblings, Cleo Barker and R.B. Bearden. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; his sons, Brian Hunziker and wife Dyanna, and Johnnie Hunziker; grandsons, Blayke and wife Haylee, Kylar and wife Ashton, Kaden and wife Marley, Breckyn, and Axson; great-grandsons, Hayes and Kinsler; and a host of other family and friends who will deeply miss him.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, with honorary pallbearers including Landon Lowrence, Harry Worsham, Jack Brown, Mark Bearden, Dennis Tolbert, and Terry Tolbert.
Visitation will take place on May 6, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
