Roy A. Keebler, age 90, died Saturday, February 21, 2026 at OSF St. Katharine Medical Center in Dixon, IL following a sudden illness. He was born October 4, 1935, in Peru, IL the son of Roy Alfred and Anna (Gerdes) Keebler. He graduated from Peru High School in 1955 and attended L-P-O Community College. Roy then served his county in the United States Air Force Military Band. Upon being discharged from the Air Force he graduated from Western Illinois University with his master’s degree in music education. While at Western Illinois University he met the love of his life Gladys Anderson and they were married on July 12, 1964, in Bradford, IL. Roy was hired by the Oregon School District in Oregon, Illinois and served as the Director of Bands for 25 years. He led fundraising efforts for the Oregon School District Bands throughout the years, to support the many parades, festivals and events the Band attended. After retiring he gave private lessons and participated in the Kable Concert Band in Mt. Morris, Illinois for over 35 years, where he also served on the board of directors. He enjoyed his music, reading, trains, and woodworking. Roy had a booth at the Autumn On Parade festival for over 30 years displaying and selling his woodworking creations. He was a member of the Oregon Church of God. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Betty Keebler, and wife Gladys. Roy is survived by his 3 daughters Angela (Todd) O’Riley of Brookfield, IL, Lisa Keebler of Oregon, IL, and Elizabeth (Thomas) Heck of Jacksonville, Florida; and 3 granddaughters Sarah O’Riley, Rachel O’Riley, and Roslyn Heck. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 3-5 PM at Oregon Church of God, 860 West Oregon Trail Rd, Oregon, IL 61061 with Pastor Michael Hoffman officiating. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday morning at the church. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Oregon. A memorial fund is established in Roy’s name and may be directed to his family.
