Roy Allen Kimble of Sparland died Wednesday, August 24, 2023, at his farm in Lacon. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Elizabeth (Bruell) Kimble of Sparland and his brother Carl Kimble of Sparland.
Roy was married to Diane Kaisner and they had 3 children who survive: Michelle Kimble of Dunlap, Cory (Becky) Kimble of Heyworth, Andi (Travis) Spangler of Lacon; his grandchildren Tyler (Julie) Kimble, Morgan Kimble, Brendon Kimble, Hudson Spangler, Lincoln Spangler; great-granddaughter Sadie Kimble; and step-grandchildren Sierra and Evan. One Sister Lois Faye ( David) Mize of Simpson, Bothers: Ivan ( Mary) Kimble of Minooka, Ralph ( Kathy) Kimble of Chillicothe, Sister-in-law Cecelia Kimble of Chillicothe.
Roy was born on October 23, 1948, growing up in rural Sparland he enjoyed riding horses, raising livestock and farming with his grandfather, father and brothers. He even raced horses on the track in Henry as a young adult. After High school Roy was drafted, joined the Marine Corps, and served his country in the Vietnam War. Once returning home he started working at BF Goodrich and continued to work at the plant for the next 55 years, operating the coal boiler, for several different companies until his death.
When Roy wasn't working swing shift at the plant, you could find him raising livestock, bulldozing, excavating, or doing any odd job on any of his farms. He truly loved bulldozing and clearing land on any farm. It was not uncommon to not see Roy for week or two at a time, as we knew he was out working day and night. Anyone who crossed paths with Roy always walked away getting to hear another “unique” story. Roy truly was the hardest working and mentally toughest worker that anybody knew. Roy's Legacy will continue to live on as his family continues to farm his Land that he dedicated his life to.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 1st, 2023 from 5 – 7 at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon with Military Rites at 5pm before visitation. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday.
