Roy King Obituary
Roy was a first language Cherokee Speaker. He was a member of Round Springs Baptist Church and before his passing was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church of Jay, OK. Roy enjoyed hearing sermons and hymns as well as singing in his Cherokee language. He also enjoyed playing dominoes, shooting pool at the senior citizens, fishing, crawdad hunting and spending time as well as teaching his grandchildren. He worked as a crew boss of chicken catchers and in the office for Simmons Industries for over 20 years and then worked at the Jay Senior Citizens for a couple years.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Delores King of 43 years before her passing in 2022; Mother Lucy Grass-King; Father Martin King; Brother's John King, Don King, Rev. Rufus King; Sister's Betty King and Rita King.
He will be loved, remembered and missed for generations to come by those who knew him and loved him. His daughter's Jimmie Gail of Jay, OK and Micah White of Jay, OK; Brother Jim King of Jay, OK; Sister's Grace Nichols of Jay, OK and Nancy Soldier and husband Richard (Guy) of Jay, OK; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Roy was loving and caring grandfather or as they called him "Doo Doo" to three grandchildren, Currie King, Alexander Rodriguez and Corey King (his little mini me). He was also given the honor of raising his two granddaughters, serving as both father and grandfather.
Roy's Celebration of Life Wake Service will be held on Monday, 6:00pm, January 5, 2026 at Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Chapel, 311 W Gray St., Jay, OK. 74346. Followed by her family visitation to greet friends until 8:00pm.
Roy's Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, 1:00pm, January 6, 2026 at Piney Baptist Church, 44815 County Rd. 641, Jay, OK 74346 with Pastors Chris King and Stanley Grass Officiating. Followed by Roy's funeral procession to Piney Cemetery, Jay, OK.
Roy's burial will be held at Piney Cemetery, Jay, OK.
Arrangements are entrusted to Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W Gray St., Jay, OK. 74346 with Shaunda J. Lawson, 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
