Roy Krienke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home in Austin/Round Rock on May 28, 2025.
Roy Arthur Krienke | May 19, 1944 – May 20, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Arthur Krienke, lovingly known as
"Paw-Paw," who departed this life on May 20, 2025, at the age of 81.
Roy was born on May 19, 1944, in Taylor, Texas, to Reverend Theophil and Anita Krienke. He was raised in Round Rock, Texas, where he spent a lifetime serving and supporting his community. He proudly served in the National Guard and dedicated many years to public safety, both as a volunteer with the Round Rock Volunteer Fire Department and later as Fire Chief. Roy also served as a fire marshal, where his leadership and dedication were deeply respected.
A man of deep faith, Roy was a devoted member of Palm Valley Lutheran Church. On April 13, 1985, he married Grace Theolyn Krienke at Palm Valley Lutheran Church. They would go on to be married for 38 years.
Roy's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving children: Kimberly Blakely and husband Jim, Terri Dumas and husband Dan, and John Layton and wife Paige; his grandchildren: Tabetha Layton, Tara Raney and husband Scott, Seth Dumas, Morgan Yount and husband Austin, Cody Dumas and wife Kaeleigh, Abby Dumas, Sara and Ava Layton, Justin and Ryan Blakely; and his great-grandchildren: Charlie, William, and Jack Yount, Harper and Hannah Raney, and Newt and Ivy Dumas. Brothers Roland Krienke and wife Sharon, Robert Krienke and wife Betty; and sister Ruth Bernard and husband David; and sister-in-law Mildred Krienke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Theophil and Anita Krienke; brothers Milton and Karl Krienke; sister-in-law: Blanche Krienke; beloved wife, Grace Krienke; and son, Todd Layton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Roy's children for their loving dedication and care after the passing of Grace. There is no greater honor than caring for a parent, and Roy's final years were made brighter by their love
Roy will be remembered for his steady presence, his dedication to service, and the little joys- like stirring chocolate into his grandkids' ice cream or watching Walker Texas Ranger (even if he didn't always make it to the end of the episode). He will be dearly missed, but we take comfort in the promise that we will see each other again.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 11:00am at Palm Valley Lutheran Church with inurnment to follow in the Palm Valley Columbarium.
'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.'

Enjoyed being with Roy while a member of the RRVFD. It was also wonderful that he continued his FD connection via the RRVFD Fraternal Order. He is missed.
