Our beloved father and grandpa, Roy F. Bennett, US Army, Ret, LTC, age 79, passed away peacefully to be with his heavenly father Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in San Antonio, TX. Roy was born on February 9, 1932, to Edward and Doris Bennett in Watertown, NY. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Incarnate Word College on August 25, 1967. He retired from Walter Reed Army Medical Center as Head Nurse RN. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal Vietnam, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and the Distinguished Unit Citation. During his retirement, he loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Spurs, he loved doing puzzles, reading, playing on his iPad and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by wife of 52 years, Mamie M. Bennett. He is survived by his loving son & caregivers Scott & LisaMarie Bennett; son Kevin Bennett Bethy; grandchildren, Michael Bennett Julie, Amy Copa Daniel, Kimberly Jones John, Sarah Hayes, Daniel V. Hayes, Jr.Viviann; great grandchildren, Rylar Copa, Zachary Jones, Bryson Jones, Alexandria Hayes; siblings, Bruce Bennett, Doris Diettrich, & Richard Bennett. A special thank you to Calvary Temple Assembly of God church for their special hearts and assistance to the family during this difficult time. MEMORIAL SERVICE WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2011 11:00 A.M. CALVARY TEMPLE ASSEMBLY OF GOD 14335 OÂ'CONNOR ROAD SAN ANTONIO, TX 78247 Rev. Doug Roberts will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date in Evansmill Cemetery, in Evansmill, NY.
