Roy McClain, a joyous and compassionate servant of Christ, journeyed to his eternal home on December 4, 2024. Born on November 23, 1928, in Spencer County, KY, Roy led a life that was a testament to his unwavering faith and love for his family, friends, and community. A man of infectious humor and tremendous generosity, he brought warmth and joy to the countless lives he touched. His journey as a minister of the gospel began as a student at Kentucky Christian College in 1950. Shortly after, he was joined in marriage to his "sweetheart" and partner in ministry, Fern, on July 29, 1952, in Lawrenceburg, KY. Together, they served in ministry for 65 years spanning Christian churches in Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, and Mexico. Thirty-six of those years were spent at Georgetown Christian Church. Roy's lifetime of dedication to the faith also includes conducting revival meetings in 5 states, serving as Senior or Youth Dean of Christian Service Camp for 24 years, escorting 13 trips to the Lands of the Bible, serving 18 years as a Chaplain of the Fraternal Order of Masons, supporting the Kentuckiana Christian Mission as a member and officer for 15 years, and acting as Forwarding Agent and Representative for Mexican Christian Mission for 40 years. After retiring, Roy and Fern served 5 years as missionaries in Mexico. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Fern McClain; his parents Roy McClain Sr. and Edna Brown Jewell McClain; his brother Raymond McClain; and his daughter, Pamela Messer. He is survived by his brother, Truman McClain (Pauline), two sisters, Doris Sweasy (Linwood) and Donna Kaye Bohannon (Wendell); two daughters, Deborah Larrick and Lisa Dawson (Ryan); four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A service to celebrate Roy's life will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Georgetown Christian Church Worship Center. Prior to the service, a visitation will commence at 11:00am in Georgetown Christian Church's McClain Family Life Center. Memorial gifts may be made to Workers for Mexico Mission at P.O. Box 400, Grayson, KY 41143.
