It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Roy McDaniel, Jr .announces his passing on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the age of 66. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa Catholic Church in St. Landry on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the St. Theresa Church Cemetery with Father Casey Dugas officiating services.
Roy McDaniel, Jr. was born on Wednesday, June 11, 1958 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother. Roy had a good sense of humor which contributed to his great outlook on life and often made those around him smile.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel “Sommar” McDaniel; grandson, Zaine Cole McDaniel; siblings, Ellen Johnson, Wilson “Sonny” McDaniel, Lorraine Norris, Robert “Dee” McDaniel (Pam), and Loretta Ortego (Grant); five nieces; and ten nephews.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents to Roy, Sr. and Jeanette McDaniel; his brother, Dr. James McDaniel, Sr., and his niece, Sherry Ortego Tyra.
Visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Saturday, April 26, 2025 beginning at 8:00 AM until dismissal at 9:15 AM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Friday evening.
