Roy McDougle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turner Funeral Home - Waynesboro from Dec. 14 to Dec. 24, 2025.
A man of faith, fashion, and unwavering strength, passed away peacefully at his home in Detroit, Michigan, on December 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of his children.

Born in Waynesboro, Mississippi, to the late Barron and Mattie McDougle.

Roy's journey took him from the south to the heart of the Motor City at a young age. A hard worker by nature, he built a career at Ford Motor company before pursuing his CDL and finding success as a truck driver. A savvy provider, he took great pride in owning real estate and land, always ensuring his family was cared for. A man of routine and devotion, he began every day at his table with his Bible. He loved music, going to the racetrack, sitting on his porch chilling. He loved sports football was his favorite whatever team is winning, that's who it was rooting for and trust and believe he never picks a losing team. He was a skilled cook whose stewed rice and bacon was a family staple, usually followed by a bowl of his favorite Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream. He loved going out to eat, especially at Red Lobster.

Roy was the foundation of his family- a protector and a man of his word.

Though known for his "zero tolerance* and stubborn streak, he was equally cherished for his gentle ways and his role as a father figure to many. Roy was and amaring man he was so smooth and cool. He gave the best advice and always was solo. He didn't just raise one family, he raised two, leaving an indelible mark on every life he touched.

He leaves behind his legacy and a lifetime of memories to be cherished by his six loving children: Deborah McDougle Adams, Marsha McDougle, Roy Blackman, Tonisha Blackman, Sherrie McDougle Blackman, and Barron Blackman; Six Grandchildren Chaquita Nickelson, James Nickelson, Deja Blackman, Nyjah Blackman Browner, Russell Dooms, and Kha'mya Blackman; 2 caring sisters, Ruthie B. Nobles and Olue McDougle, and a host of nieces, and nephews and Bonus family members who will forever cherish his memory.

Mr. McDougle will be interred Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at New West Cemetery, with Rev. Donald R. Gandy as the officiant.

Mr. McDougle's viewing period will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Turner Funeral Home.
