Roy Albert McField Trusty was born on March 27, 1933, in Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras to Joseph McField and Catherine Trusty McField. One of thirteen siblings, from an early age Roy displayed an active involvement in family and community life through fishing, assisting with family farms, and supporting his family. He moved to La Ceiba, Atlántida, Honduras with his sister Elsie Mae and family for work opportunities to help support his siblings. Roy was home-schooled under the guidance of teacher Leah Forskin, a well-known and respected teacher in the city at that time. As a youngster Roy was always charming, popular and enjoyed playing soccer, participating in social events, and helping to care for his nieces and siblings for whom he cared for as a big brother. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Goldie Marie Johnson of La Ceiba and together they raised six children - Jose Robert, Bernadine Annett (deceased), Goldie Catherine (deceased), Bernice Maurina, Margo Azarie and Roy Albert McField, Jr. Roy worked at the Standard Fruit company as a welder where he excelled and received multiple recognitions and accolades for always delivering excellent work. After two hurricanes and major floods that destroyed the Honduran infrastructure in the 1970s, the company closed major operations and was Roy was left without a job. In 1983 he moved to Boston, followed by his wife and children, and through the sponsorship of his two siblings Shirley and Leo McField for which he and his family were forever grateful. While in the United States, he worked multiple jobs including mechanical equipment installations at several locations for Scrub-A-Dub Car Wash Company. Roy was highly creative and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. After retirement, Roy enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, spending time with his children, church activities, sitting on the porch doing his puzzle, coloring or simply calling family and friends to check in. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2012 he followed his treatment believing each day was a blessing. The diagnosis did not stop him from remaining active and engaged in all life activities. He was an active member of Congregation Lion of Judah where he attended faithfully, including during the Covid pandemic and helped in many ministries including Miracle Mile and Hospitality where he was well-known for sharing his famous bread pudding. Roy was one of the founding members of Good Works Servants (GWS) ministry and gave 100% of his time, strength and effort helping with fundraisers, classifying, packing, and transferring boxes ready for shipment to his native home in Honduras. He was steadfast in reminding the GWS team that "our mission work is service to God and others, and we should all be active participants". He loved God, his wife, children, sons and daughter-in-law Lenny, Santiago and Sandra, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and friends. He had a special place for Wally Stocks whom he called his son as well as the Nguyen family Jimmy and Aracely and a special bond with Milana and Ellie who brought so much joy to his life especially during his last years and months. Left to mourn his passing, his only sibling Luis McField of Roatan, four children: Robert, Bernice Maurina, Margo Azarie, and Roy Albert McField Jr. all from Boston, fifteen grandchildren, twelve great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, church families and friends who loved and cared for Roy. Roy, Dad, Papi will be greatly missed but we know God's plans are always better than ours. His legacy will live on.
Until we meet again Papi, in our eternal home.
