Roy Hugo Olson

Roy H. Olson, age 95, of Edina, passed away eleven days after his wife of nearly 70 years,

Cammie. Preceded in death by wife, parents and two brothers. Survived by children David

(Lauren), Bruce (Betsy), and Cammie (Garth); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Born in Minneapolis to Swedish immigrants, Roy grew up during the Great Depression and

graduated from Washburn High School and the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy.

He served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Korea and Japan from

1952-1954 with the 21st Infantry, 24th Division.

Roy and his brother Doug founded Olson Brothers Pharmacy, serving the Edina community on

the same corner for more than 50 years. He served as President of the Minnesota State Board

of Pharmacy and was a lifetime member and past President of the University of Minnesota

Century Mortar Club. He served on the Board of Mt. Olivet Rolling Acres and founded its annual

golf tournament fundraiser. He was a member of Edina Country Club and Mt. Olivet Lutheran

Church.

Roy was proud of his Swedish heritage, military service, and work as a community Pharmacist.

He loved golf, walleye fishing on the St. Croix River, and winters in Arizona. Above all, he was

devoted to his family.

Private interment at Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Roy and Douglas Olson
