Roy Lee Oxentine, Sr., of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, at Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. He was 85 years old.

Born January 26, 1932 in Lenoir, North Carolina, Roy was a graduate of Lenoir High School. He enjoyed a career in the transportation industry and worked for Johnson Motor Lines. His passions included wood working. Roy was preceded in death by three wives; Christine Clark for 39 years, Ann Childers for 12 years, and Faye Loveless for 10 years.

Roy is survived by his three children, Freita McGinnis of Harrisburg, North Carolina, Roy Lee Oxentine, Jr. of Lincolnton, North Carolina, and Kristopher Eric Oxentine of Waxhaw, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Amber Norkett, Katie McGinnis, Billy Oxentine, Jacob Oxentine, Sarah Oxentine, Colby Oxentine, Landon Oxentine, and Cameron Oxentine; four step-grandchildren, Jake McCollum, Josh McCollum, Jack McCollum, and Anna Beth McCollum; and five-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 pm Friday, January 19, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 7:30 pm in the church. A committal service will be held 11:30 am Saturday at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir, North Carolina.

Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, North Carolina 28204.

Arrangements are in the care of McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel.
