Mr. Roy Cecil Patterson, 84, of Macon, GA, formerly of Barbourville, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 1, 2026. He was born November 28, 1941 in Knox County, the son of the late Bill Patterson and Ollie Cooper Patterson.

Roy was a former Senior Fab Technician with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation and believed in the Christian faith. He was a historian who enjoyed studying genealogy and spending time out of doors hunting and fishing. Roy most loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were his everything.

On March 18, 1966, he united in marriage with Mary Ann Pierce.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Shirley Patterson Kelly and Kenneth Patterson; a daughter-in-law, Tonia Patterson and a grandson, Justin Lee Patterson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Patterson of Macon, GA; children, Darren Lee Patterson and Andrea Patterson Flaherty and husband, Thomas, all of Warner Robins, GA; sisters, Carolyn Patterson Grubb and Linda Patterson Edwards; brothers, Paul Patterson and Gary Durham; treasured grandchildren, Andrew Thomas Flaherty, Emilee Paige Patterson Randolph and Nick, Jordan Austin Patterson and Maudie and Alexander Just Flaherty and Kooper; great grandchildren, Levi Randolph and Yvonnie Patterson; best friends, Robert and Donna Taylor; among other loved ones and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, February 6 at 8 P.M. with Darren West officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery Saturday, February 7 at 11 A.M. with military funeral honors.

Casket bearers will be his family.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday after 6 P.M. until the funeral hour. Saturday family and friends will gather at the funeral home and travel in procession to the cemetery at 10:30 A.M.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
