Roy J. Richards, 66, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 25, 2025, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Hospice.
Roy was born January 28, 1959, to Grant Richards and Barbara Eckersley Richards, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he lived his whole life. He graduated from Bonneville High School before starting his lifelong career working with automobiles and motorcycles.
He married Sindy Gardner and had 3 children, Sylina, Christina, and Justin. They later divorced.
On June 27, 1992, he married Cindy Brenchley in Idaho Falls. She brought two more children to the family, Jason and Joey. Roy and Cindy made their home primarily in Idaho Falls, where Roy worked at Napa and then Harley Davidson, where he retired in 2024 after 23 years.
Roy loved anything with a motor. He enjoyed rebuilding engines, racing stock cars, motorcycles, auto body work, and simply going for a drive. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, playing practical jokes, and most importantly spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Roy is survived by his wife, Cindy Richards of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Jason (Laurie) Brenchley of Poolesville, MD; daughter, Joey (Tory) Stewart of Shelley, ID; daughter, Sylina (Andy) Gray of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Christina (Kris) Callaway of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Justin Richards of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Rex (Suzy) Richards of Iona, ID; sister-in-law, Gwen Gowin of AZ; and Coy Richards of Idaho Falls; brother-in-law, Mike Landon of Firth, ID; his 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Barbara Richards; father and mother-in-law, Lowell and Nona Orgill; sister, Laraina Landon; brother, Ralph Richards; sister, Bobette Jensen; brother, Bruce Richards; and granddaughter, Kaci Lynn Shaul.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Aspen Hospice and Dr. Magnusson for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 6:30-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. The burial will be in the Parker Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at Harley Davidson, 848 Houston Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83402, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
