It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Richard Smith Sr., age 68, who went home to be with the Lord on December 7, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, he was the pillar of our family and a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love.
Born on July 10, 1957, in
Milan, Indiana, Roy lived a life rooted in faith and guided by his love for God. His steadfast devotion shaped not only his own journey but also the lives of those around him, leaving a legacy of kindness, integrity, and faithfulness.
He found joy in the outdoors, whether it was hunting in the quiet woods, fishing by the water's edge, or simply appreciating the beauty of creation. The stillness of the forest, the rhythm of the water, and the open skies were places where he felt closest to God and most at peace. Each sunrise on a crisp morning and each cast of a fishing line carried with it not just recreation, but reflection - a reminder of the blessings of life and the wonder of the world around him.
For him, the outdoors was more than a pastime; it was a sanctuary. He delighted in sharing these moments with family and friends, teaching patience, respect for nature, and gratitude for the simple gifts that so often go unnoticed. He created memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Above all, Roy cherished his family. He was a loving father who led by example, teaching us the values of hard work, compassion, and love. His laughter, stories, and gentle guidance will remain forever in our hearts.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Smith; his children, Roy (Crystal) Smith, Donny (Nicole) Smith, and Roxanne (Mike) Kober; his grandchildren, Alexis Smith, Cryssandra Smith, Morgan Kober, Kaiden Smith, Lindsey Kober, Kendra Smith, Karlee Smith, and Kenlee Smith; and his great-granddaughter, Armoni. He is also survived by many family members including his sisters, Donna (John) Craig and Barb (Bob) Lambert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Luella Smith, and his sisters, Sharon White and Melba Earles.
A celebration of Roy's life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Whitewater Crossing Christian Church, 5771 OH-128,
Cleves, OH 45002.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to
