Roy P. Sotelo, Jr., 74, of Uvalde, TX passed away on February 27, 2026, at Northeast Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX.
He was born on November 30, 1951, in Uvalde, TX, to Juanita (Perez) and Rogelio Sotelo, Sr.
His father was the owner of Sotelo’s Auto Service and Tire Shop, established in 1950, and in the early 1980s he proudly passed the family business on to his son, Roy Jr. A man of deep faith, he devoted much of his life to preaching and sharing God’s word, and offering encouragement to those around him. He had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand, often going out of his way to support those in need and to spread the love and message of Christ.
He married Anita Hernandez on May 2, 1970, in Uvalde, Texas.
He is survived by Anita Sotelo, his wife of 55 years of Uvalde; daughter, Diana Gonzales, and husband Mike Palacios of Uvalde; son, Roy Sotelo, III and wife, Dora of Uvalde; four sisters, Noelia Salinas of Castroville, Estella Rendon, Maricela Cruz both of Uvalde and Nelida Sotelo of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Derek Gonzales, Karina Gonzales, Roy Sotelo, IV, Catalina Sotelo, Chloe Sotelo and Leia Sotelo; four great grandchildren, Jonathan Mata, Emma Mata, Derek Gonzales, Jr., and Alexander Aguilar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Claudio Sotelo.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Julio Luna, Jr., John Mata, Derek Sotelo, Roy Sotelo, IV, Michael Hernandez, and Diego Galindo.
