Roy Leon Teverbaugh, age 89, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born June 30,1935 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Violet Backes Teverbaugh. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Violet Farano, a son Roy Teverbaugh, Jr., and a grandson Shane Resnick.
Roy proudly served as a New York City firefighter for 24 years. He never met a stranger and always had a way to make everyone feel special. He was funny and never made an enemy. His personality could light up a room. Most of all, he loved his family with all his heart.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Teverbaugh of Anderson, SC; sons, Michael Teverbaugh (Karen) of Bronx, NY and Robert Lundy (Kimberly) of Mahopac, NY; daughters, Sandy Lundy of Greenville, SC and Patti Walsh (Andrew) of Virginia Beach, VA.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 11:30 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. The committal will follow at 1:00 pm at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New York City Fire Department Burn Center, 21 Asch Loop, Bronx, NY 10475.
