Roy Jean Walters

Funeral services for Mr. Roy Jean Walters will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Oak Grove Mission Church, Hineston, with Reverend Glen W. Womble officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Calcasieu, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Mr. Walters, 86, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 17, 2025, in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He found joy in gardening and took every opportunity to travel when he could. Resourceful and talented, he had a gift for taking things apart and fixing anything that was broken. His greatest joys in life were attending church, serving God, and spending time with his great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Walters; his parents, Andrew and Robie Walters; and one sister, Laverne Dousay.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife, Gloria Walters of Alexandria; one son, Andy Walters (Melissa) of Elmer; one daughter, Carman Walters Choate of Elmer; two granddaughters, Cindy Hennessey (Tom) of Durham, North Carolina, and Melanie Pope (Caleb) of Elmer; three great grandchildren, Cameron Pope, Beckett Pope, and Everly Pope; and one sister, Betty Winegeart.

A time of visitation will be held at Oak Grove Mission Church, Hineston, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Tim Dousay, Lyn Dousay, Shannon Eddlemon, Randy Vales, Youral Winegeart, and Joseph Dousay. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Hilton and Johnny Holt.
