Royce Allen Hughes, Sr. was born in Seattle, Washington on August 13, 1946, to the late Thomas and Eva Hughes. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a strong sense of duty and commitment. Royce then transitioned into a career in the oilfield, working as a mechanic and truck driver. His passion for driving eventually led him to become a self-employed, founding Royce Transportation, from where he retired.
Royce found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing and hunting, where he created endless memories. Whether he was fixing things around the house or spending quiet afternoons piddling with projects, Royce approached life with a spirit of curiosity and enthusiasm. His proudest accomplishment, however, was the time he spent with his family.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria Comeaux Hughes; children, Royce Allen Hughes, Jr., Wendy Hughes, and Chad Hughes (Allison); grandchildren, Christine Hughes, Priscilla Reinart (John), Kira Hughes, Bailey Hughes, and Laya Hughes; great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Harper; and three siblings, Bonnie, Shirley, and Laverne “Vern.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Wayne, Arthur, Darlene, and Rouletta.
Pallbearers will be Chad Hughes, Royce Hughes, Jr., Jay Comeaux, Dale Comeaux, Wilton Comeaux, Jr., and Gerald Comeaux.
Royce's memory will forever be etched in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
