In Loving Memory of Ruben Flores
Ruben Flores, age 91, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at 3:12 p.m. at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.
Mr. Flores was born in Brownsville, Texas, on September 3, 1934, to Guadalupe A. Flores and Pablo Flores.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his wife, Rosa Espinosa Flores; his sons Ruben Flores Jr., Jose Flores, and Rafael Flores; and his granddaughter, Amanda Flores.
Mr. Flores is survived by his devoted daughter Diana B. Stephens and one daughter-in-law, Cindy Flores. He was one of twelve children and is preceded in death by his brothers Pablo, Rodolfo, Alonzo, Jose, Juan, Francisco, and Rafael Flores, and his sister Oralia Flores Cisneros and her husband Santiago Cisneros. He is survived by his sister Maria Elena Flores Garza.
Ruben Flores was blessed with a large family and leaves behind many loved ones, including his grandchildren Ruben Flores, Rafael Flores Jr., Joseph Flores, twins Cleve and Ariel Warren, Jadyn R. Stephens, and Michael Mullins. He is also survived by three great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters, who will carry forward his legacy with love and pride.
Mr. Flores proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Sergeant Major. He completed three tours in combat one in the Korean War and two in the Vietnam War-where he was wounded in action. For his bravery and service, he received an Honorable Discharge, three Bronze Stars, one Silver Star, and two Purple Hearts. A 100% disabled veteran, Mr. Flores dedicated his later years to advocating for the rights and well-being of fellow veterans.
Mr. Ruben Flores was married to Rosa Espinosa Flores of Waco, Texas, and together they raised a beautiful family of four children. He will be remembered for his strength, courage, and unwavering love for his family and country.
His life was a testament to honor, service, and resilience. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
