He was born to parents Silvestre Lopez and Sara Lopez, on December 12, 1950, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was known for being a kind and fun-loving jokester who enjoyed making his family and friends laugh. Throughout his life he worked as a skilled tradesman in the marine supply industry where he made several lifelong friendships. His hobbies were watching football, dancing to tejano music, playing with his dogs and collecting treasures.
Ruben outlived his sons "Little Ruben" Lopez, Jose Ruben Esquivel and his three wives, Lidia Saldana, Tina Lowery and Tracy King. He is survived by his sister Alvina Lopez as well as his seven children Laura Lopez, Lydia Lopez, Eva Lopez, Sylvester Lowery, Sarah Cordova, Paula Arp, Erik Lopez, plus his 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
He was a man with no shortage of love in his life and will be greatly missed!
At his request, no public funeral services will be held. Instead, a small private service for immediate family only has been planned. The family thanks everyone for the abundance of love and support received.
