Ruben Luna Obituary

Ruben Garcia Luna, affectionately known as Ruby to his friends and family, brought laughter and love into the world on November 11, 1963, and continued to do so until his last day on October 2, 2025. Born and raised in Edinburg, Texas, Ruby's life was as vibrant and warm as his hometown.

Ruby was a true Edinburg original, graduating from Edinburg High School in the class of '82. He was the kind of guy who could find humor in the mundane and turn an ordinary day into an adventure. His intelligence was as sharp as his wit, and his loving nature made him a friend to all.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gonzalo and Esperanza Luna, who undoubtedly instilled in him the values of family, humor, and the importance of a well-seasoned BBQ. Ruby's legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Mary Gomez, who was his partner in love and laughter, and his two sons, Samuel Ruben Luna and Benjamin Luke Luna, who inherited their dad's charm and knack for storytelling.

Ruby was the comedic glue in a family of characters, including his siblings Jorge Luna, Elda L. Rios, and Jaime Luna. They shared a lifetime of memories, from backyard BBQs to impromptu comedy shows at family gatherings.

An avid outdoorsman, Ruby found peace in the simple pleasures of life, like cutting grass to the perfect height, which he argued was an art form. He was a hunter and fisherman who knew the best spots and the worst jokes to tell while waiting for a bite. Golf was his chosen form of stress relief, and he swung his clubs with the same gusto he lived his life.

Socializing was Ruby's sport, and he was its undefeated champion. He never missed a chance to gather with family and friends, where he was the life of the party, sharing stories that would make you laugh until you cried. A die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Ruby's game-day parties were legendary, complete with his signature BBQ and a side of playful banter.

Ruby was the man who could light up a room with his humor, charm everyone with his intelligence, and win hearts with his loving nature. His absence leaves a void that can only be filled with the memories of his laughter, the stories he told, and the warmth he brought to every life he touched. Ruben Garcia Luna may have left the stage, but his encore will play on in the hearts of those who loved him. Goodnight, sweet prince of Texas humor; your final bow was taken far too soon, but your punchlines will echo eternally.
