Ruben Vazquez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home - Lewisville on Jan. 19, 2026.
Ruben Vasquez, a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful servant of God, went home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2026, at the age of 60.

Ruben was born on September 6, 1965, and lived a life grounded in faith, love, and dedication to his family. He was a man who walked closely with God and reflected Christ's love through his kindness, strength, and quiet generosity. Ruben was known for his steady presence, gentle spirit, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.

He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Vasquez and a proud and loving father to his daughter, Julia Vasquez, who was the joy of his life. Ruben treasured his family deeply and found his greatest purpose in providing, protecting, and praying over them.

Ruben dedicated nearly 29 years of service to ACE School of Tomorrow, where he worked faithfully and with great pride. He truly believed in the mission and the Christian curriculum developed by the organization and loved sharing with others about the work he did. He often spoke with passion about how the curriculum helped shape young lives and strengthen faith, and he was proud to be part of a ministry that served God and families around the world.

Ruben also had a deep love for learning and collecting. He enjoyed collecting coins and Hot Wheels cars and took great joy in learning about United States history and researching the most popular and rare Hot Wheels models. He could often be found studying, and sharing interesting facts with those around him. These passions reflected his curious mind and appreciation for history, detail, and tradition.

Ruben is survived by his loving mother, Leonor Laughlin; his sisters Olga Vasquez, Rachel Schmidt (Jimmy Schmidt), Tony Laughlin and Laura Hedrick; and his brother Jeff Laughlin (Valerie Laughlin). He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Juanita Russell, Irene Griffin, Cecelia Kolb, Juan and Maria Mora, Theodore Vasquez, Rudy Vasquez, Felix Vasquez, Jr., and Domingo Vasquez; as well as many extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, JT Laughlin; his grandparents Porfiria and Felix Vasquez Sr. and Ima Laughlin; and his aunts and uncles Pete Vasquez, Candy Hinson, LeRoy Laughlin, Bob and Sue Eads, Ralph Griffin, Marvagene Vasquez, and Loretta Vasquez.

Ruben's life was a testimony of faith in action. Whether through his words, his work, or his quiet service, he lived to honor God and serve others. His legacy of love, faith, curiosity, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Services will be held at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 740 Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, Texas Saturday, January 17, 2026 Viewing: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Service: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Burial: Roselawn Memorial Park at 4:00 p.m.
