Rubie Caldwell Wilkerson was born August 31, 1939, to the union of Rufus Caldwell Sr. and Carrie Griffin Caldwell. She was one of five children born to this union. Rubie was called home on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Ocean Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Rubie was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age. She attended school in York County, S.C. She graduated from Emmett Scott High School, Rock Hill, S.C. Afterwards she moved to Washington, D.C. and married the late William Arthur Wilkerson of Honey Path, S.C. She worked in the Maryland and D.C. area in the health and rehabilitation field for most of her life.

Rubie's most joy in life was helping and caring for her family. Nothing made her happier than being with family.

When Rubie became ill, she moved to Biloxi, Ms. with her beloved brother Larry Caldwell affectionately called"Lanny Boy " and his wife Melanie Caldwell.

Rubie leaves to cherish her devoted brother Larry (Melanie) Caldwell of Biloxi, Ms., brother Rufus (Margaret) Caldwell of Inkster, Mi., nieces, nephews and a godson, Derwin Straite.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to her beloved cousin Maggie Lee Massey. Thanks to all family and friends who supported her throughout her life.

Rubie would always say to treat people like you want to be treated and to always be kind to people.
