Mrs. Ruby Addie Bryant Merchant, age 97 of Willachoochee, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, May 16, 2023 at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation following a short illness. Mrs. Merchant was born October 10, 1925 to the late Cauley Columbus Bryant and Rebecca Vickers Bryant. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shelley Merchant and a sister, Dorothy Taft.
Mrs. Merchant, was born in Atkinson County. She was a homemaker. She was also a member of Mora Baptist Church and Senior Citizen Club of both Douglas and Pearson.
Survivors include:
1 Son: Julian Lorane Merchant and wife Margaret of Eatonton, GA
1 Daughter: Carolyn Busby and husband Darrell of Willacoochee, GA
6 Grandchildren: Dana Roberts and husband Richard of Willacoochee, GA
Shellie Beck Davis and husband Lloye of Blackshear, GA
Crystal Mock and husband Ryan of Waycross, GA
Deanna Busby of Willacoochee, GA
Gabriel Merchant of Jacksonville, FL
Jordan Merchant of Hilliard, FL
6 Great Grandchildren: Jake Davis and Alex Davis both of Blackshear, GA
Cam Callahan of Waycross, GA
Knox Taylor of Hilliard, FL
Carter Mock and Will Mock both of Waycross, GA
A number of cousins and other relatives.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, May 18, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Friday morning, May 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Wilson and Rev. Casey Wright officiating. The interment will follow in Mora Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers for the service will be: Ryan Mock, Lloye Davis, Jake Davis, Alex Davis, Richard Roberts, Danny Dees, and Cam Callahan.
Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be: Gary and Carolyn Simpson, Sherri Davis, Edwina Vickers, Theresa Wilson, Evelyn O'Steen, Walt and Jo Ann Burch, Lynn and Ed Chaney and Nick Rodriquez.
Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
