Douglas VanLeuvan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home on Oct. 11, 2025.
Douglas E. VanLeuvan, 56, passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2025, surrounded
by his loving family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 6,
1969, Doug brought laughter, warmth, and an unforgettable spirit to everyone lucky enough to
know him.
Doug was predeceased by his twin brother, Gary, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond.
He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Carol, with whom he shared 29 wonderful
years. He is also survived by his loving mother, Kathleen; sister, Nicole Chapin (Jeffrey);
brother-in-law, Anthony Morgese; sisters-in-law, Gina Morgese and Angela Guarasce (Anthony);
nieces, Georgia Chapin (Conner) and Anna Chapin (Easton); and nephews, Anthony
Morgese-Merola and Dominick Guarasce.
Doug had a career in the construction industry spanning 30 years. For the past seven years, he
served as a Senior Superintendent with Hueber-Bruer Construction Company, where his
leadership, craftsmanship, and humor left a lasting impression.
A proud Parrothead and lifelong Jimmy Buffett fan, Doug loved music, golf, family, good
company, the Dallas Cowboys, and sunshine. He never missed a tee time, loved every chance
to travel-especially to the Caribbean with Carol, or anywhere the Thunder & Lightning Tour
may have taken him. "Fins Up Forever."
His life was bigger than the space allowed here, but to sum it up, Doug lived life with humor,
heart, and a sense of adventure. He faced life with a smile and a joke, even when things got
tough. He found joy in the everyday moments, whether it was a round of golf, a great song, the
occasional boat drink, or time spent with the people he loved most. His laughter will echo in the
stories and memories he leaves behind.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M., immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Doug's life at 6:00 P.M. in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) Syracuse, NY 13212.
