Ruby L. Ball, 91, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Willowick Assisted Living in Beloit, Wisconsin.
Ruby was born on Tuesday, January 10, 1933, in Pontotoc Mississippi. The daughter of Herman Alvis and Dallie Mae (Easley) Garrett. Ruby along with her parents, sisters, and brother came to Beloit in the mid-1950's.
Ruby was employed for many years at Black & Decker in Beloit. She greeted clients with her customary charm and professional style. Ruby was highly regarded by her colleagues and was once selected to represent Black & Decker Beloit in Baltimore, Maryland at the National Corporate Conference. Following her tenure there she went on to join the design team at Welcome Home Interiors where for five years she worked as a home interior consultant. Once again, Ruby's dynamic personality endeared her to her colleagues and all those she came in contact with.
Ruby was a long time and faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Beloit, Wisconsin. Ruby loved traveling the world. Ruby will fondly be remembered for her dedication to her family, friends, church, and her Lord and Savior. Ruby was widely known for her great love of people from all walks of life. She was the one who never met a stranger and generously gave of herself in and love, kind words, and friendship. Ruby sowed great kindness and reaped God's kindness throughout her life.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory; her children, Max (Brenda) Garrett, Woodie Garrett, Melody (Anthony) Casey, Judy Ball, Crystal (Charles) Steward, Rosemary (Babatunde) Fowler, and Chester (Lillie) Ball III; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren sisters, Maxine Roberson, and Linda Garrett-Foster; sister-in-law, Betty Garrett; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Dallie Garrett; brother, J.B. Garrett; sisters, Clydie Harrell, and Martha Jo Hereford; brothers-in-law, Richard Hereford, Wade Harrell, Becelon Foster, and Hayward Roberson; and a niece, Rhonda Heard.
A special thank you to the staff at Willowick Assisted Living, her personal nurse Rose Borrett-Lawson RN, along with the many friends who expressed comfort and love to our family.
A celebration of Ruby's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1151 East Grand Avenue, Beloit, Wisconsin 53511 With Reverend Orienthal J. Newburn, Sr. officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home is assisting the family. My mother worked with Ruby at Wisconsin Knife Works/Black and Decker. I would visit my mother there often and seeing Ruby was an extra treat. Ruby was beautiful inside and out and she always dressed `to the nines“! Just gorgeous. She was a perfect person for the front of that business. My condolences to family and friends.
