Ruby Blascyk passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025 in Abilene, TX. Up until the end Ruby maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and gratefulness for a life filled with wonderful and varied experiences.
Ruby Nell Easterling was born on Thursday, November 28, 1940 to Hillard and Lucille (Driskill) Easterling, and eighty-five years later her birthday was a going home celebration as her Lord and Savior carried her to her eternal home.
Ruby spent her early years in Avoca, TX where she graduated from high school in 1959. She and her twelve siblings cherished the quaint small-town neighborhood where they grew up and established lifelong friendships.
In Ruby’s 85 years of life, she filled so many roles for so many people. She was a daughter, sister, wonderful aunt, friend, and most importantly, a mother. Ruby truly was kind, always looking out for others, lending a listening ear. In her role as a mother, she was not just present; she was fully resolute 100% of the time to her daughter, Sherri Lynne. The qualities she valued in her personal life also made her a good employee and manager in her 34-year working career with Southwestern Bell-AT&T, a career she was committed to and enthusiastic about. After retiring Ruby enjoyed her time as a homemaker, bowling, and… of course, there were also the occasional “sisters’ trips” to Vegas. As a lady of faith Ruby was a member of the Old Path Baptist Church where she served in numerous capacities.
Ruby was preceded by her parents, Hillard and Lucille, and siblings: Bobby, Wanda, Jenny, Bill, Dorothy, Glenna, and Mary Joyce.
Ruby is lovingly survived by her daughter Sherri Lynne Blascyk of Abilene, TX; sister, Peggy Hollowell of Abilene, TX, Ruth Rogers of Lubbock, TX, Mattie Elliott and husband Curtis of Hawley, TX, Jane Inskeep of Washington state; one brother, Jack Easterling of Abilene, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including special friends, Nannie Davis and Niece White.
Ruby’s family will gather for visitation on Wednesday, December 2, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Old Path Baptist Church, 3501 Chimney Rock Rd, Abilene, TX until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Rickie Moore and Rev. Jamie McCravey officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Spring Creek Cemetery at Avoca, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home, Stamford, TX,
