Janice "Granny" Hammer, 90, resident of Stamford passed away Monday, February 2, 2026 in Harmony Care at Stamford. Upon the request of our mother, there will be no services.

January 13,1936- Janice was born to Leon and Mildred Hallman. Moving to Stamford as a young girl, she attended Stamford ISD. In this school system is where she met the love of her life, Tommy Hammer. She graduated from SHS in 1954 and continued her education in Ft.

Worth at Texas Christian University, graduating in 1957.

December 21,1957 she married Tommy Hammer and spent 55 years together until Tommy died in 2012. They were blessed with two children, four grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Janice was a cheerleader at SHS, band member, and very active in various school activities. While attending TCU, Jan was an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority.

Janice was very active in Stamford ISD as a teacher and substitute teacher, Texas Cowboy Reunion Hostess, member of Music Club, Old Timers Association, Stamford Art Foundation, and a volunteer for The Museum of the West Texas Frontier Stamford. She was also an active member of First Baptist Church in Stamford, especially loved her Sunday School Adult class.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Tommy, and grandson Christopher Hammer. She leaves behind a son, Michael Hammer and wife Kriste of Ennis, a daughter Sue Blain and husband Danny of Midland; three grandchildren, Brittney Eisenbach and husband Taylor of Hutto, Danny Blain III and wife Christa of Watauga, and Amber McCullough and husband Joshua of Lubbock; five great grandchildren, Addison, Grant, Logan, Maddox, and Greyson.

Words cannot express the gratitude the family has for Harmony Care staff and Hendrick Hospice Care. The family appreciates all the love and support from the community on behalf of Janice Hammer.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Chris Hammer Memorial Scholarship Fund, 2501 St. Andrews, Ennis, TX 75119. Or Spring Creek Cemetery, 8033 CR261, Avoca, Tx 79503.
