Ruby Elaine Bray, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and respected professional, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia. Born on July 10, 1943, in Enterprise, Alabama, Elaine lived a life marked by dedication, love, and a commitment to those around her.
Elaine’s career was distinguished by her steadfast service to the Muscogee County School District, where she dedicated 20 years to Central Registration. Prior to this, she contributed her talents to the Ledger Enquirer and Columbus Bank and Trust Company, demonstrating a versatility and work ethic that earned her the respect of colleagues and community alike.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Elaine found great joy in traveling the world alongside her husband, William H. "Billy" Bray. Together, they embarked on over 40 cruises, creating treasured memories filled with adventure and companionship. Her passions extended to painting, through which she expressed her creative spirit, and spending cherished moments with her family.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Billy Bray, Jr. of Columbus, Georgia; her devoted daughter, Gina Bray Parquette (Tim) of Pine Mountain, Georgia; and her caring son, William Jason Bray (Adrianne) of Fortson, Georgia. She also leaves behind five grandchildren—Whitney (Andrew), Mitchell, Gavin, Carson, and Luke—who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Elaine is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.V. and Ruby Nell Pritchett Reardon, whose memories she held close throughout her life.
Elaine Bray’s legacy is one of unwavering devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and a spirited embrace of life's journey. Her memory will be cherished deeply by all who knew her, as one who lived with grace, warmth, and an enduring love for those closest to her.
