Ms. Ruby Jean Brown was born on September 21, 1944, in Hickory, Mississippi. On February 11, 2026, she peacefully answered God's call to come home. Ms. Ruby, as she was affectionately known, was the third daughter and sixth child of the late Horace Brown & Ruby Tims Brown. .

She grew up in the Gaston Point Community. She was baptized at an early age. Ruby joined the Little Rock Missionary Baptist under the leadership of Pastor Famous McElhany and was an active member until she moved away.

She attended Gaston Point Elementary School and graduated in 1963 from 33rd Avenue High School, after she received her diploma. She worked to ensure she and Bernard were good, even if it meant working two jobs. She loved to travel and desired to do it often even studied to be a stewardess. The family she worked for taught her how budget, drive and encouraged her to speak up for herself. She enjoyed her time living in New York. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake.

Ruby was preceded in death by her father & mother; 2 sisters, Pearlie Jordan, and Mary McDonald; 4 brothers, Ortist Brown, Horace Brown, Jr. (Clyde), Clarence Brown (George), and Jessie Brown.
