Fred Teris Ray, 94, passed away peacefully Monday, December 29, 2025 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport Mississippi.
A private family celebration of life will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery,with Reverend David Mills officiating Monday, March 2, 2026 according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd,Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Fred was born on April 24, 1931 in Manchester, Georgia to the late Ervin Marion Ray and Lester Cornelius Autrey. Fred enlisted in the Navy in 1948 and served until 1953, then rein listed from 1956 to 1971. After retiring from the Navy he worked for Remington Park Security for 16 years. He lived in Oklahoma City for over 40 years and enjoyed dabbling in real estate. In 2013 Fred moved to the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport Mississippi. He enjoyed all the many things the Retirement Home offered to include painting. Fred loved driving to Columbus to surprise his sister which allowed them to share their love of art.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Allen Moffitt and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Ray, sister, Mildred Coulter and brother, Edward Ray.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Beallwood Baptist Church,4650 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, Georgia 31904.
